Feeling Center
Heart-based types driven by image and relationships (2, 3, 4).
The Feeling Center — also called the Heart or Image Triad — includes Enneagram Types 2, 3, and 4. These three types are primarily driven by emotions, identity, and a deep need to be seen, valued, and loved.
What unites them is a core preoccupation with image — the question of who they are in relation to others — and a complex relationship with shame. Type 2 avoids shame by becoming indispensable. Type 3 avoids shame by achieving and projecting success. Type 4 engages shame differently, often feeling that something is fundamentally missing or wrong with them.
Heart types are emotionally attuned and relational by nature. They read emotional atmospheres quickly and care deeply about how they are perceived. Their gifts lie in empathy, connection, and the ability to create meaning in relationships. At their best, they bring genuine warmth, beauty, and an ability to make others feel truly seen.
